Summer Yoga, City Digs, and Help Wanted!

Dear Students, Friends, and Colleagues,
I thought long and hard about sending out a New Year’s letter back in January, but as Beckett once wrote, throughout this winter “The sun rose on the nothing new.” Didn’t have much to report. Happily, May has brought the glimmers of new beginnings—or happy returns to what we once took for granted:
Yet oddly, after bemoaning months of isolation, I find the prospect of mixing with others a bit daunting. Having left home only to visit a few students and my beloved local beach, I wonder whether my social skills are rusty and if I still know how to hug.:)

One thing that’s not rusty is my teaching, as I’ve been fortunate to see students online and in person throughout the pandemic. You, my students, are my greatest joy and my greatest challenge. I meet you each day “where you are,” physically, energetically, emotionally, and spiritually. I salute those of you who have turned to yoga during these bizarre and often dark times because you know it works.

Luckily, yoga can keep us all focused and on beam, and I’ll be offering both my outdoor Sunday morning classes at Wolffer Vineyard and private and small-group lessons through summer and beyond.

I love teaching, but I don’t love the tasks involved in keeping life online running smoothly. My stellar administrative assistant took advantage of the Covid lull to go back to school, so I’m looking to replace her. This is a (sometimes less than) part-time gig with variable and relatively flexible hours. Skills include basic website design/maintenance, Constant Contact emailing, social media posting, LinkedIn updates, random Apple computer and Iphone puzzlers, and seemingly basic stuff like setting up Dropbox folders, Vimeo videos, etc. Creative skills like photography and graphic design a much-desired plus! Who knew things would turn around so quickly, and the usual buzz around New York City real estate would resume in time for summer!
